Job summary

AeroVironment in Dayton, OH is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to design, deploy, and secure enterprise Linux server infrastructure across on-prem and multi-cloud environments. You will lead automation, configuration management, and hardening to NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC L2, while scaling Canonical Landscape and managing VM/VMware, AD/LDAP, and MFA integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 8–12 years total IT infra experience; 6+ years Linux systems administration.
• Deep admin experience with Oracle Linux, RHEL, and Ubuntu.
• Experience managing Linux endpoints at scale (Landscape/Satellite/Foreman).
• Experience implementing MFA (PAM, YubiKey, PKI) and centralized auth.
• Direct experience hardening Linux to NIST SP 800-171/CMMC L2/DISA STIG.
• Automation proficiency with Ansible and Bash/Python.
• VMware vSphere/ESXi and enterprise storage (LVM, NFS, iSCSI).
• US Person for ITAR/EAR compliance; ability to obtain DoD clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain mission-critical Linux servers across on-prem and cloud.
• Architect and administer Canonical Landscape for hundreds of Ubuntu endpoints.
• Implement MFA/PAM, SSSD/FreeIPA, AD/LDAP bridging, and sudoers delegation.
• Harden systems to NIST SP 800-171, CMMC L2, and DISA STIG benchmarks.
• Develop and maintain IaC and configuration baselines using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef.
• Manage enterprise SAN/NAS storage and VMware virtualization for Linux guests.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation for engineering apps, toolchains, build environments.
• Design backup, failover, and disaster recovery workflows.
