Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. seeks a Software / Network Engineer - Linux expert to support the 53d TEG Experimental Operations Unit at Creech AFB, NV.

The role centers on developing and sustaining software for CCA flight simulation, including air vehicle and mission autonomy systems, with cross-functional collaboration. You will install, configure, and harden Linux-based systems, manage configurations, automate tasks with Bash/Python, and participate in security audits and performance

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Software Engineer.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification.
• Proficiency with Linux OS.
• Windows Server administration experience.
• Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python).
• 6+ years of experience administering Linux systems (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability and willingness to work in a team environment, with demonstrated leadership, customer interface, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall software engineering support to the 53d TEG Experimental Operations Unit (EOU).
• Coordinate with US Government agencies and air vehicle and mission autonomy contract vendors.
• Ensure flight simulation software meets requirements and performs as expected through unit, integration, and system test and experimentation.
• Use software tools to process and analyze collected data to assess simulated aircraft performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues during development, integration, and simulated flight experimentation.
• Gather feedback from pilots and subject matter experts to identify areas for improvement in realism, usability, and training/combat effectiveness.
• Manage software configuration and version control to maintain stability and traceability.
• Generate clear experimentation reports that summarize test results and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of operators, maintainers, engineers, analysts, and other support personnel.
• Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations.
• Perform system hardening and security audits to ensure compliance with established security policies.
• Be familiar with security scans on SAP networks using tools like ACAS and ClamAV.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash, Python).
• Establish and maintain container engines like Docker and Podman.
