Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) seeks a Software / Network Engineer with Linux expertise to support the 53d Test and Evaluation Group at Creech AFB, NV.

You will help stand up and sustain CCA flight simulation software, autonomy systems, and related projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. The role emphasizes collaboration with engineers, operators, maintainers, and analysts, plus strong problem-solving, adaptability, communication, and leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Software Engineer.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification.
• Proficiency with Linux OS.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server administration.
• Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python preferred).
• 6+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work in a team with leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide software engineering support to the 53d TEG EOU.
• Coordinate with US Government and external vendors.
• Ensure flight simulation software meets requirements and passes tests.
• Analyze data from simulations to assess performance and identify improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues during development and tests.
• Gather feedback from pilots and SMEs for realism and usability.
• Manage software configuration and version control for stability.
• Generate clear experimentation reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team of operators and engineers.
• Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations.
• Perform system hardening and security audits.
