Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to optimize performance across our Linux-based platform. You will analyze system behavior, design enhancements, and help bring new servers and hardware into production, with a strong emphasis on code quality and reliability.

You will work on virtualization, kernel interfaces, and performance tooling, collaborating across teams to deliver scalable improvements and accurate metrics for system-wide efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Strong programming in C and experience with Rust, Python, Bash or Perl.
• Deep understanding of the Linux kernel, computer system architectures, and the intersection between software and hardware.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (Qemu, KVM, SVM, VHE).
• Experience with debugging and performance tools like perf and BPF.

• Analyzing system performance

• Participating in the process of introducing and productizing new servers and hardware
• Extending metrics collection and creating visualizations to better quantify systems performance
• Building tooling to help identify system performance problems faster
