Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to join our Linux Performance team. This role focuses on improving the performance and efficiency of Akamai's Intelligent Platform across virtualized and bare metal systems.

You will design and implement performance improvements and contribute to server/hardware integration. You will work with a broad set of technologies, including C, Rust, Linux kernel internals, and virtualization, while building tools and visualizations to measure

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong C programming skills and knowledge of Linux kernel internals.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (Qemu/KVM) and hardware bring-up.
• Proficient with debugging and performance analysis tools such as perf and BPF.
• Ability to design scalable performance improvements across large distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system performance.
• Identify, design, and implement performance enhancements and new features.
• Participate in process of introducing new servers and hardware.
• Extend metrics collection and create visualizations to quantify performance.
• Build tooling to identify performance problems quickly.
