Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Linux Infrastructure team, building and maintaining Akamai's custom Linux kernel with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.

You will port modifications to new kernel versions, debug across diverse environments, and collaborate with platform, application and hardware teams while contributing to open source upstreams and staying current with kernel developments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of C and Linux kernel development with scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
• Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Develop features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Port existing Akamai modifications to newer Linux kernel versions.
• Debug issues in test and production environments.
• Enhance build and test automation for Continuous Testing.
• Collaborate with platform, application, and hardware teams; upstream in open source.
• Stay current with upstream Linux kernel changes and emerging industry trends.
