Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Linux Infrastructure team. You will join a globally distributed group building and maintaining Akamai's custom Linux kernel and distribution to support the Cloud Platform.

You will own features to boost performance, reliability, and security, port changes to new kernel versions, and work across multiple teams, including upstreaming your contributions to the Linux community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in software development.
• 3+ years in C and Linux kernel development with scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and debugging.
• Familiarity with memory management, filesystems, block IO, TCP/IP stack, and KVM.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Port Akamai modifications to newer Linux kernel versions.
• Debug and fix issues in diverse test and production environments.
• Enhance build and test automation for continuous testing.
• Collaborate with platform, application, test teams and hardware teams.
• Work with the open source community to upstream your work.
• Stay current with upstream Linux kernel and OS changes and industry trends.
