Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead OS and hypervisor architecture for the Cloud Compute platform, embedded within engineering teams. You will guide design decisions, build PoCs, and influence product direction for IaaS and Kubernetes-enabled services.

The role requires deep Linux, virtualization, and container expertise, with hands-on development and collaboration across product and engineering teams in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant distributed production services using virtualization and cloud-native tech (e.g. qemu, kvm, Cilium).
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, Linux internals, virtualization, hypervisors, performance optimization.
• Experience with containers and related tech (systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and public cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

• Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
• Build PoCs to inform design choices and technology selections.
• Collaborate with product managers/architects to inform product direction.
• Help shape the engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor.
• Work with agile teams to drive innovative solutions and rapid delivery.
