Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain a custom Linux kernel for Akamai Cloud Platform. You will develop features, port modifications, and work with distributed teams across the globe.

You should have 5+ years in C with a Linux kernel focus, and experience in kernel debugging, memory management, and filesystems. Join a team that values reliability, security, and automation.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• 3+ years of C software development focusing on Linux kernel and scripting (Perl/Python/Shell).
• Familiar with at least two subsystems: memory management, filesystems, block IO, TCP/IP stack, KVM.
• Strong knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and network protocols.

Responsibilities

• Developing new features to improve performance, reliability, and security of Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Porting existing Akamai modifications to newer versions of Linux kernel.
• Debugging and fixing issues in test and production environments.
• Enhancing build and test automation for Continuous Testing.
• Collaborating with platform, application, and hardware teams; upstreaming work to open source.
