Job summary

PGTEK is seeking a Senior Linux Cluster System Administrator to provide hands-on support for a large-scale Linux cluster at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The role emphasizes system health, security, and performance, with the candidate acting as a trusted advisor to the customer and sharing knowledge with their team.

The successful candidate will troubleshoot complex issues, upgrade systems, and maintain a robust security posture in an HPC environment, with on-site training on HPC tools

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance required
• 10+ years of professional Linux system administration experience
• Experience supporting large-scale or clustered Linux environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex Linux issues
• Ability to work independently in a highly technical environment
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills

Responsibilities

• Perform general system administration for a large-scale Linux cluster environment
• Monitor and maintain overall system health and operational continuity
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux system issues
• Respond to customer requests and provide timely technical support
• Plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades
• Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities
• Maintain the security posture of systems operating on the customer network
• Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to customer system administrators
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships while serving as a trusted technical advisor
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Independently develop and apply methods to solve highly complex technical problems
