Job summary

PGTEK is seeking a Senior Linux Cluster System Administrator to provide hands-on support for a large-scale Linux cluster at Stennis Space Center, MS. The role focuses on system health, security, and performance, acting as a trusted technical advisor to the customer.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, plan upgrades, and maintain security posture within an HPC environment, with knowledge transfer to customer admins and ongoing training on HPC tools.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is required.
• 10+ years of professional Linux system administration experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale or clustered Linux environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex Linux issues.
• Ability to work independently in a highly technical environment.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general system administration for a large-scale Linux cluster environment.
• Monitor and maintain overall system health and operational continuity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Linux system issues.
• Respond to customer requests and provide timely technical support.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades.
• Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Maintain the security posture of systems on the customer network.
• Provide knowledge transfer to customer system administrators.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and HPC trends.
