Job summary

Atlas Tech is seeking a Linux Sustainment Engineer to support Navy tactical communications. You will maintain RHEL servers, manage KVM and containers, and develop Python utilities to sustain mission-critical software.

The role requires DoD clearance readiness and hands-on scripting, with collaboration across cyber, network, and software teams. Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years of Linux administration, strong documentation, and experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in a relevant technical field.
• 8-10 years of Linux system administration experience.
• 5 years of software development experience using Python, Java or C#.
• Bash and shell script development experience.
• Technical documentation experience.
• Desired: networking and testing experience.
• 3 years’ experience working with a wide range of IT products.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Administer Red Hat virtual machines (KVM) and containers (Docker/Podman).
• Develop software applications in Python (Python preferred; Java or C# experience considered).
• Automate maintenance tasks using shell scripting (Bash).
• Maintain source code in software repositories (Git).
• Assist in management of network devices, including configuration of layer 2 & 3 switches and routers.
• Assist subject matter experts with software engineering change requests (ECR) and software installation documentation.
• Research and resolve software trouble reports impacting application functionality.
• Ensure compliance with DoD guidelines for IT system security (STIG).
