Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a skilled Line Mechanic C in Texas to perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground electrical facilities. The role requires CDL and prior line experience, with ascending responsibilities from C-100 to C-400 classifications over time.

Successful candidates will reside within the service territory and join a team focused on safety, reliability, and community service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of distribution electrical power line work experience or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures and other equipment under supervision as skill level dictates.
• Test, energize, and troubleshoot URD cable and equipment after completing required training.
• Tag switching operations and perform proper safety procedures while working on energized circuits.
• Progress from direct supervision to immediate supervision as skill level increases during the first year.
• Carry out duties of Line Mechanic D and advance to higher classifications as required.
