Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Line Mechanic to install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground facilities, progressing through skill levels from C-100 upward. The role involves energized work with appropriate supervision and requires CDL and line work experience.

Overtime, travel, and on-call duties are expected. Applicants must meet education/experience requirements and be prepared to advance qualifications within the company’s structured progression plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year distribution electrical power line work or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL preferred or required per role progression.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Test, energize and troubleshoot URD cables and equipment.
• Direct and supervise assistant line workers; progress from direct to immediate supervision as skilled.
