Job summary

Eaton seeks a Sr Systems Engineer - Lighting for its GEIS division in Syracuse, NY. This hybrid role requires a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in systems engineering across mechanical, optical, hardware, and software domains.

The incumbent leads system architecture, validates design decisions with LightTools/Optical tools, and mentors global teams while interfacing with marketing and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of systems engineering experience (mechanical, optical, hardware, and software).
• Relocation not provided.
• Preference for a technical degree.
• Experience with networked luminaire control systems is a plus.
• Proficiency with engineering software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
• Experience with Product Data Management systems (SAP, Enovia).
• Knowledge of IESNA LM-79, TM-21, TM-30, etc.

Responsibilities

• Define system requirements and activities for harsh, hazardous luminaire products.
• Lead system architecture across mechanical, optical, hardware and software.
• Review requirements, generate system specs, and design architecture.
• Define the Validation & Verification strategy and oversee the V-cycle.
• Collaborate with teams to estimate development resources and timing.
• Train and mentor engineers and guide global centers.
• Engage in feasibility studies to meet objectives and timings.
• Provide technical support to marketing, operations and others.
