Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Lifting and Handling Electrical Engineer to support the safe operation and maintenance of heavy lifting equipment in a nuclear environment. You will collaborate with mechanical, structural, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and code compliance.

Responsibilities include design changes, maintenance planning, field walkdowns, and issue resolution for electrically powered lifting systems used in the nuclear refueling mission;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's with 7+ years; or Doctorate with 3+ years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.
  • Familiarity with NEC or equivalent electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls and industrial control systems related to heavy equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and upgrade lifting and handling equipment in a nuclear environment.
  • Support design changes and maintenance planning for heavy equipment.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and resolve issues to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, operations and maintenance teams across disciplines.
