Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Lifting and Handling Electrical Engineer to support the safe operation and maintenance of heavy lifting equipment in a nuclear environment. You will collaborate with mechanical, structural, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and code compliance.

Responsibilities include design changes, maintenance planning, field walkdowns, and issue resolution for electrically powered lifting systems used in the nuclear refueling mission;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's with 7+ years; or Doctorate with 3+ years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or RPCO Engineer at the Company.
• Familiarity with NEC or equivalent electrical codes and standards.
• Experience with PLCs, motor controls and industrial control systems related to heavy equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Job Description

The Lifting and Handling Electrical Engineer will gain practical and theoretical electrical engineering experience while performing maintenance and upkeep on heavy operating equipment in a nuclear environment. This role supports the safe operation, troubleshooting, and improvement of lifting and handling systems used in the nuclear refueling mission for Naval Reactors. The engineer will work in a multidisciplined engineering environment, collaborating closely with mechanical, structural, operations, and maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Responsibilities typically include supporting design changes, maintenance planning, field walkdowns, and issue resolution for electrically powered lifting and handling equipment.

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

Pay Range

$117,900.00 - $184,300.00 annually
