Job summary

City of Saint Paul is hiring Lead Lifeguards to supervise operations at municipal beaches, pools, aquatic centers, water parks and day camps. You will monitor activity, guide staff, and act as onsite supervisor when managers are unavailable.

Ideal candidates possess swimming skills (200 yards, 2 minutes tread, 12 feet water), a Red Cross Lifeguard license with CPR/AED/First Aid, and one season of lifeguard experience; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must possess swimming skills: 200-yard swim, 2 minutes treading water and 12 feet water.
• At least one season of lifeguard or water safety instructor experience.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard license with CPR, AED, Oxygen and First Aid certifications.
• Preferred: ability to speak a language other than English.
• Proof of certifications must be submitted to hiring authority upon conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Monitor aquatic areas, recognize hazards, rescue patrons, and provide emergency care.
• Lead lifeguard rotations, cleaning duties, teaching assignments, and daily operations.
• Act as onsite supervisor when management is unavailable and ensure adequate coverage.
• Orient, train, and mentor lifeguards and ensure required trainings are maintained.
• Assist with swimming lessons, safety audits, inventories, reports and guest services.
