John Hancock Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) is seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor to conduct detailed audits of underwriting initiatives and ensure alignment with pricing, mortality assumptions, and regulatory requirements. This remote role welcomes candidates across the continental US.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in life underwriting, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills to present findings to leadership and underwriters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in life insurance underwriting.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products, underwriting guidelines, and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk appropriately.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and pattern recognition in audit findings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to underwriters and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Conduct post-issue audits and monitoring of new underwriting initiatives for technical accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Review underwriting decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify material errors, trends, and themes in audit results and prepare clear reports for management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Management and Risk Management on CAPs and remediation tracking.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework with KRIs and governance standards.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications with Training & Development.
• Provide input into innovation initiatives by testing impact on underwriting quality and risk.
• Assist with design and execution of targeted audits for Underwriting Innovation initiatives.
• Ensure audit documentation is complete and suitable for internal audit and governance review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit frameworks, metrics, and reporting.
