Manulife/John Hancock is seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor for a remote role open to any location in the continental US. You will audit underwriting initiatives, assess decision quality, and provide actionable insights to align with pricing, mortality assumptions, and regulatory requirements.

The position emphasizes collaboration with Underwriting and Risk teams, CAP development, and training translation of audit findings into guidelines.

Qualifications

• Several years (typically 5+ years) of experience in life insurance underwriting.
• Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk.

Responsibilities

• Conduct post-issue audits and monitoring of new underwriting initiatives to assess technical accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Review underwriting decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify material errors, trends, and themes in audit results and prepare clear reports for management.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Management to develop CAPs and track remediation progress.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework and governance standards.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications.
• Test and evaluate new tools, rules engines, and GenAI solutions for underwriting impact.
