International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) is seeking a Senior Life Underwriter to provide underwriting services for the Life department and Field Force, using approved methods and guidelines. The role includes training underwriting staff and ensuring timely, sound decisions for the unit.

Candidate will leverage data analytics and underwriting outcomes to improve processes and stay current with automated systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with focus on insurance, business, finance or medical field, or equivalent ten years underwriting experience.
• Minimum seven years life underwriting experience or equivalent required.
• Financial underwriting experience required.
• Experienced computer usage and proven skills in Microsoft Office including Excel.
• Medical terminology knowledge required.
• Willingness to pursue continuing job-related training and education required.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting services for Life department and Field Force using approved solutions and guidelines.
• Train Underwriting staff and ensure timely, sound underwriting decisions.
• Utilize data analytics and outcomes to evaluate and streamline underwriting functions.
• Maintain expertise in automated underwriting systems to augment goals and objectives.
• Underwrite and process larger and complex life insurance applications and determine facultative reinsurance liabilities.
• Correspond with clients, agents, doctors, reinsurers, and other organizations to gather information needed to underwrite risks.
• Monitor changes in underwriting techniques and participate in industry educational programs.
