Job summary

Corebridge Financial is seeking a Director of Life Underwriting to oversee complex medical and financial risk assessments for individual life insurance applications. You will balance sales support with mortality protection, partner with case managers and wholesalers, and lead a team to deliver accurate, timely underwriting decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in life underwriting, strong communication, and formal designations like FLMI/FALU/CLU are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of life underwriting experience with demonstrated competence handling larger face amount cases.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex formal applications and informal quote applications within approval authority guidelines.
• Analyze complex information to reach comprehensive medical and financial assessments based on company guidelines.
• Effectively manage change, defuse conflict and negotiate positive results.
• Take a cross-functional view of work processes and understand ramifications to other areas.
• Be organized and able to manage a large caseload.
• Demonstrate superior technical underwriting knowledge and skills.
• Provide training to internal and external customers on underwriting topics.
• Interact with a sophisticated field force dealing with an upscale market.
