Job summary

Swiss Re seeks a Senior Life & Health Underwriter (VP level) to lead complex large-case underwriting and foreign-national business, collaborating across pricing, product, and legal teams. You will nurture client partnerships and guide risk decisions in a dynamic U.S. Life and Health portfolio.

You will operate in a hybrid environment from multiple east/central U.S. offices, mentoring colleagues and contributing to underwriting excellence across the Americas.

Qualifications

• Large Case Underwriting experience including high-net-worth and foreign national cases.
• Strong underwriting judgment and evidence-based risk selection.
• Excellent client relationship and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex risks across medical, non-medical, financial, highly substandard, and multi-impairment cases.
• Underwrite large case and high net worth business, including foreign national cases.
• Deliver high-quality underwriting decisions aligned with risk appetite, pricing objectives, and corporate strategy.
• Build and nurture client relationships as a trusted reinsurance partner.
• Stay current on medical advancements, underwriting trends, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with pricing, product, legal, and other teams.
• Participate in and lead internal and external audit programs.
• Represent Swiss Re at conferences, client meetings, and offices.
• Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and mentoring across the Americas.
• Support product and governance considerations to align with market standards.
