Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage seeks a leader to head Adult Services for the Anchorage Public Library (APL) at Loussac Library, directing adult programming, events, outreach, and services to meet community needs.

The role hires, trains, mentors, and evaluates Adult Services staff; manages budgets; drives policy, planning, and collaboration; represents the library in the community; and participates in system-wide leadership and operations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school.
• Two years of professional library experience, including one year in a supervisory role with some budget preparation experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads Adult Services for the Anchorage Public Library (APL) by setting direction for adult programming, events, outreach, and services at Loussac Library that meet community needs.
• Manages Adult Services staff by hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating employees and establishing effective workflows and performance standards.
• Oversees division reporting and budgets; ensures consistent application of policies and procedures; communicates with respect and tact to resolve patron and personnel issues.
• Drives division planning, policy development, and system-wide collaboration; supports efficient, forward-looking library operations.
