Job summary

Travelers is seeking a skilled claims professional in the United States to handle severity claims with a strong focus on coverage, damages assessment, and timely communication with insureds.

The ideal candidate will combine advanced analytical abilities with litigation management experience, negotiation skills, and a solid understanding of policy language to resolve complex cases effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced knowledge in coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis.
• Thorough understanding of the litigation process, relevant case and statutory law and expert litigation management skills.
• 3 years of liability claim handling experience and/or comparable litigation claim experience.
• Acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) may be required within a few months of starting the job.

Responsibilities

• Directly handles assigned severity claims.
• Provides quality customer service and ensures timely coverage analysis and communication with insureds.
• Consults with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed.
• Investigates each claim through prompt contact with policyholders, claimants, and others to determine liability and damages.
• Interview witnesses and stakeholders and obtain statements as appropriate.
• Coordinate resources for evaluation of claims (subrogation, risk control, experts).
• Maintain claim files and document activities; use evaluation tools and CFA for quality standards.
• Manage diary system and determine liability and damages exposure; establish reserves.
• Negotiate dispositions with insureds/claimants and manage litigation as needed.
