Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. A J.D., paralegal certification, insurance or risk designation (such as ARM, AIC, or CPCU), or comparable credential is a plus.
• Five or more years of experience in claims management, litigation management, insurance or risk management, ideally in multi-site hospitality, retail, or recreation operations.
• Experience managing outside counsel and directing litigation strategy through resolution.
• Working knowledge of claims handling, litigation and discovery, reserving practices, and settlement negotiation.
• Familiarity with general liability, property, auto, umbrella and excess, certificates of insurance, additional-insured requirements, deductibles, and self-insured retentions.

Responsibilities

• Handle non-employment liability claims through outside counsel from reporting to closure.
• Manage outside litigation and develop case strategy with outside counsel.
• Set and maintain claim reserves, adjusting as matters develop.
• Negotiate and settle claims, within delegated authority.
• Support litigation and discovery, preserve evidence, and prepare witnesses.
• Coordinate with carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators on tenders and coverage.
• Maintain organized claim files, track deadlines and financials.
• Monitor costs, review outside counsel billing and guidelines.
