Job summary

The Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA) invites interest in the Senior Claim Representative role in our Liability Department. You will investigate complex liability and property claims, determine coverage, and establish reserves while coordinating with defense counsel and IRMA members.

Candidates should have expert liability claims knowledge, in-depth Illinois law experience (Tort Immunity Act and Section 1983), strong negotiation and analytical skills, and proficiency with claims

Qualifications

• Expert liability claims knowledge with strong customer service.
• In-depth knowledge of Illinois law, including the Tort Immunity Act and Section 1983.
• Analytical, negotiation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Public entity or governmental risk experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex liability and property claims; determine coverage and reserves.
• Partner with defense counsel to manage litigated and non-litigated claims.
• Analyze liability exposure and negotiate settlements to protect the pool.
• Prepare reports to excess/reinsurance carriers and discuss findings with members.
• Coordinate meetings with members, defense counsel, and management staff.
• Attend trials and conduct training; act as back-up supervisor when needed.
