Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA) invites interest in the Supervisor of Liability Claims role. The candidate will supervise claims operations, identify risks, analyze trends, and advise executive leadership on strategies to reduce losses and improve member outcomes.

Qualifications

• Expert liability claims technical knowledge.
• In-depth knowledge of Illinois law, the Tort Immunity Act and Section 1983 law.
• Public entity or governmental risk pool experience preferred.
• Minimum 7 years experience in liability claims handling and/or litigation.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise claims operations and serve as strategic partner to executive leadership.
• Identify emerging risks and analyze claims and litigation trends.
• Assess financial and operational impacts and recommend loss-reduction initiatives.
• Oversee reporting to reinsurers and excess insurance; review coverage documents.
• Oversee subrogation recovery efforts and governance of defense counsel.
• Provide training and consultation to members; liaison to Steering Committees and Board meetings.
