Job summary

WEX is seeking a Commercial Legal Director for Mobility & Payments to serve as a strategic partner across the Americas. You will lead a team of legal professionals, negotiate complex commercial agreements, and provide guidance through product development and launches.

The role requires a J.D., 10 years of experience, and deep knowledge of payments and financial services, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration and process improvements.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. state.
• 10+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house.
• Experience in payments and/or financial services law.
• Extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise a legal team.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including credit, card program, reseller, marketing, referral, and technology contracts.
• Lead product life-cycle guidance from inception through commercial launch and ongoing evolution.
• Provide strategic counsel to Mobility executives and cross-functional leaders across Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Finance.
• Manage outside counsel and oversee their work product.
• Identify and drive process improvements within the Legal Department.
