Job summary

WEX is seeking a Commercial Legal Director for Mobility & Payments to act as a senior legal partner for Mobility operations across the Americas. You will provide strategic counsel, lead negotiations, and support product life cycles from inception to launch while mentoring a legal team.

You will collaborate with cross-functional executives in Product, Operations, Finance and Compliance, draft complex agreements, manage outside counsel, and drive process improvements within the Legal Department to

Qualifications

J.D. required and licensed in at least one U.S. state.
10 years of legal experience, ideally with in-house experience.
Experience in payments and financial services industries and related laws and regulations.
Extensive experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of complex commercial transactions (sales and buy sides).
Understanding of the product lifecycle and providing legal advice throughout the cycle.
Experience in managing and supervising others.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues in the Legal Department to identify risks and provide comprehensive legal advice to Mobility lines of business.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of legal professionals, overseeing work output to ensure risk-appropriate assessments and high-value legal support.
Cultivate advisory relationships with Mobility executives and cross-functional leaders across Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Finance.
Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements across customer credit, card programs, reseller, marketing, referral, and technology contracts.
Deliver guidance on product lifecycle from inception through launch and ongoing evolution; manage risk and disputes as needed.
