Job summary

WEX Inc. is seeking a Commercial Legal Director for Mobility & Payments in the Americas. The role combines strategic counsel, hands-on deal work, and team leadership to support mobility products, cards, and digital initiatives.

You will lead a team of lawyers, collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Finance, and oversee outside counsel, ensuring risk-aware, high-value legal support through product lifecycles.

Qualifications

J.D. required.
10 years of legal experience, ideally in-house.
Experience in payments/financial services and related laws.
Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions.
Experience managing and supervising others.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management systems and AI tools.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic counsel to Mobility business units across the Americas.
Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals.
Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including credit, card programs, and technology contracts.
Support product life-cycle from inception through launch and evolution.
Drive process improvements and manage outside counsel relationships.
