Job summary

WEX, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Legal Director for Mobility & Payments in the Americas. You will provide strategic counsel, direct reports, and cross-functional collaboration across product, operations, risk, compliance, and finance.

You will lead negotiations on complex agreements, support product lifecycle, and drive process improvements while managing risk for the mobility business. This role requires a J.D. and 10+ years of experience in payments or financial services.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and licensed in at least one U.S. state.
• 10+ years of legal experience, preferably in-house.
• Experience in payments/financial services regulations.
• Extensive negotiation of complex commercial transactions.
• Product life-cycle advisory across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements across customer credit, card programs, reseller, marketing, referral and technology contracts.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Mobility product, operations, risk and finance teams.
• Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals; oversee outside counsel.
• Provide strategic counsel on product life cycle from inception to launch.
• Support M&A due diligence, RFP responses, and contract playbooks.
• Drive process improvements and develop templates and CLM playbooks.
