The Office of Human Resources (OHR) for Montgomery County Government seeks an experienced leader to manage the Leave Management unit within the Policy, Practice & Strategic Engagement Division. You will supervise a team of leave specialists and serve as the County’s primary expert on FMLA, MD FAMLI, USERRA, PWFA, and related statutes, ensuring accurate, compliant handling of every case.

Five years of leave management or employee benefits experience and a Bachelor's degree are required;

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in leave management or employee benefits.
• Knowledge of leave laws and compliance.

Responsabilités

• Directly supervise a team of leave management specialists, managing caseloads, performance, and development.
• Serve as the County’s primary subject matter expert on leave laws (FMLA, MD FAMLI, USERRA, PWFA).
• Review and approve complex leave determinations, including intermittent FMLA and multi-type cases.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, policy guidelines, and compliance audits for the unit.
• Collaborate with HR and Payroll to ensure proper leave pay and benefits continuation.
• Develop and deliver group training on leave rights and processes.
• Lead process improvements to reduce administrative burden and improve timeliness.
