Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Leave of Absence and Disability Specialist to deliver leave, disability, and accommodation services for employees across the organization. The role emphasizes confidentiality and compliance with federal/state laws to support safe human spaceflight and workforce well-being.

You will partner with HRBPs, managers, and legal teams to manage complex cases, track leave timelines, and ensure accurate payroll data while upholding Blue Origin's mission and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of benefits experience, with 3+ years in leave and disability administration.
• Expertise in FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, STD/LTD, and state leave programs.
• Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, USERRA, Section 125, and related regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and HRIS/benefits platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Blue Origin, employees, managers, and HRBPs throughout the full leave lifecycle - from initiation through return to work.
• Manage complex leave and accommodation cases (FMLA, ADA, state/local) in partnership with our third-party administrator, Matrix/Reliance
• Track leave dates, PTO usage, and pay accuracy in coordination with payroll
• Consult with legal and compliance partners on complex cases and policy development
• Lead group and 1:1 consultations on leave, disability, and accommodation options
• Identify process gaps and drive improvements
• Serve as escalation point for senior leadership on time-sensitive matters
• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee medical documentation
• Stay current on applicable federal and state leave/accommodation laws
