Focus Financial Partners in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Senior Leave of Absence Specialist to administer all employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with FMLA, ADA and state laws while delivering an excellent employee experience.

This hybrid role partners with Benefits, Payroll and Legal, handling complex leave payments, privatization with carriers, reporting, and process improvements to support HR and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in managing leave of absence programs, with deep knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws.
• Experience with state paid leave programs and privatization processes.
• Experience with carrier partnerships and premium reporting/reconciliation.
• Advanced skills in calculating complex leave payments and premium paybacks.
• Proficiency in HRIS and Excel; experience with ADP and Workday.
• Excellent communication and discretion with sensitive information.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
• Collaborative across HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Legal.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage all employee leave programs including FMLA, state leaves, ADA, personal, parental, and military.
• Serve as primary contact for employees through the leave process with clear, timely support.
• Coordinate with HR, Benefits, and Payroll to ensure leave tracking, pay, and benefits eligibility.
• Maintain state paid leave privatization arrangements with carriers and ensure compliance.
• Prepare quarterly state plan premium payment reports.
• Assist states not privatized to complete leave documentation and compliance.
• Compute complex leave payments and coordinate with Payroll.
• Calculate premium payback amounts for unpaid leave and coordinate repayments.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, local leave laws; stay updated.
• Provide reporting and insights on leave activity for audits and planning.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
• Act as SME and resource to employees, managers, HR partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
