Job summary

BrainPOP in New York is seeking a Senior Learning Designer who leads learning design work from brief through launch within content initiatives. You translate strategy into design decisions, model craft for the team, and upskill others in assessment design and instructional quality.

This role collaborates with PMs, editors, and product teams to build scalable AI-assisted workflows and ensure grade-band alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in Education, Instructional Design, or Curriculum & Instruction.
• Strong portfolio of K–8 formative assessment items for digital learning products.
• 7+ years designing K–8 curriculum and learning experiences for edtech.
• Experience with multilingual learners for a tech-based product preferred.
• Deep knowledge of K–8 standards (Science or Math) and standards as design inputs.
• Experience leading design work within a content initiative.
• Experience with AI content pipelines and prompt design for AI-generated content.

Responsibilities

• Own the learning design work within assigned content initiatives; document key design decisions from brief through launch.
• Translate strategic direction into design frameworks, item blueprints, and content specs.
• Maintain quality and coherence across a collection or initiative, ensuring alignment.
• Write and review formative assessment items at a craft level.
• Set distractor logic standards and address quality gaps via specs or feedback.
• Ensure grade-band differentiation is applied consistently.
• Provide direct feedback and model design reasoning to upskill others.
• Build resources: guidelines, rubrics, or short workshops.
• Partner on AI content pipelines and quality rubrics for AI-generated content.
• Identify where AI tooling can improve workflows and propose solutions.
• Represent learning design in product discovery; support on-time delivery by flagging risks.
