Job summary

Evergy seeks a Manager Renewable and Build Transfer Engineering to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for Solar, Battery Storage, and other future power generation projects. You will shape the engineering department's vision and guide initiatives from design through commissioning.

The role leads a multidisciplinary team and coordinates with the Owner's Engineer, EPC Contractor, or Developer to ensure successful delivery, safety, reliability, and long-term asset strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; PE license preferred.
• A minimum of eight years of experience in the electric utility field.
• Experience in generation, energy infrastructure and/or large-scale projects.
• Ability to lead and manage engineering staff and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the engineering roadmap aligned with business objectives and regulatory frameworks.
• Oversee the execution of renewable and build transfer projects with tactical delivery and strategic foresight.
• Collaborate with leadership, operations, finance, and regulatory teams to support organizational priorities.
• Establish governance frameworks and quality assurance across projects.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between stakeholders and internal teams.
• Monitor progress, quality, and compliance with standards; report findings.
• Support procurement and contract management for major equipment and services.
• Foster safety culture and continuous improvement within the engineering function.
