Job description

Ruchman is seeking a Senior Lead Tour Guide (Supervisor) to support the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). The ideal candidate will serve as a Host/Hostess, conducting tours for a U.S. Government agency. Essential qualities include being well-groomed, articulate, dependable, possessing strong interpersonal skills, and delivering exceptional customer service. The role requires basic computer skills for research and information provision, along with a general understanding of American history, antiques, and artifacts.


The Senior Lead Tour Guide (SLTG) will oversee tour operations, report to the project manager, supervise and schedule daily tours, analyze public feedback and tour data, and handle additional responsibilities as assigned.


Applicants must have public speaking experience and be able to obtain a government clearance. Flexibility in work schedule is required. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.


Qualifications:
  1. At least four (4) years of customer service experience with increasing responsibility in public tour services or visitor centers.
  2. Experience supervising staff.
  3. Experience managing staff schedules and complex scheduling.
  4. Public speaking experience presenting to large groups (over 30 people), making high-level concepts accessible to diverse ages.
  5. Computer proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel for at least one (1) year.
  6. Current CPR certification from a recognized program (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
  7. Enjoyment of working with the public.
  8. Willingness and ability to work in all tour areas (indoor and outdoor).
  9. Promptness and dependability.
  10. Open availability, including flexible hours.
  11. Strong team player with flexibility and initiative.
  12. Ability to work with a diverse staff and public in fast-paced, changing conditions.
  13. Ability and willingness to stand for long periods.
  14. Comfort with public speaking in front of large groups.
