We are looking to add a Lead Animal Care Attendant to our team at Pet Palace Resort Pittsburgh!

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  1. Supports Mission, Vision and Values of Destination Pet.
  2. Sanitizes/disinfects pet enclosures and general boarding areas.
  3. Provides clean bedding and ensures pet guests have clean water at all times.
  4. Makes sure that each pet receives the correct type and quantity of food for each meal and maintains cleanliness of food prep areas.
  5. Monitors and accurately charts consumption and elimination of every pet guest; brings concerns to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  6. Visually checks pet guests for safety and well-being throughout the day.
  7. May be required to supervise group play for dogs and/or individual activities for pet guests.
  8. May be required to assist with bathing and brushing of canine guests.
  9. Checks and picks up excrement from enclosures and other areas as needed throughout the day.
  10. Monitors pet belongings; cleans belongings as needed; assures the return of pet belongings to owners. Carries pet belongings to storage area, front desk or to assist customers, as needed.
  11. Performs daily laundering of pet bedding and towels.
  12. Assists General Manager in overseeing additional animal care staff in regard to scheduling, coaching, training, and complaints.
  13. Supervises assigned shifts and works with Animal Care Attendants to maintain a clean, safe environment for our pet guests.
  14. Works alongside center management to train new hires in proper animal-handling techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

Expertise & Experience:

  • Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!
  • Professional animal care/kennel experience is required.
  • Displays a professional manner at all times.
  • Relationship building.
  • Ability to adapt.
  • Experience giving medications.
  • CPR Training preferred but not required.
  • High School Diploma.

Physical:

  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to be on feet for the duration of your shift.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to handle dogs of various sizes on leashes.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.

REPORTS TO: General Manager

PAY: $13-15/hour DOE
