Overview

If you are a passionate, collaborative Paramedic who loves to lead in your practice, we want to talk with you. Our Emergency Medical Services team is adding an additional Coordinator to the team. In this role, you will assist with EMS Continuing Education programs, participate in EMS research project development and evaluation, and support the EMS system quality improvement programs.

This is a PT HYBRID administrative opportunity for 20hrs/week. We will consider a job share with an ED Paramedic position for Full Time Equivalent as well. We can provide you with extended professional development opportunities as you work in a high acuity ED practicing critical care skills alongside our nursing team.

Responsibilities

Paramedic: On site, ED

Provides professional care to patients within the Emergency Department. Assesses, plans, organizes, provides, and evaluates care utilizing critical thinking skills. Makes judgments and decisions and assumes responsibility for care and documentation.

  1. Manages patients with individualized care by evaluating effectiveness/outcome of care, recognizing significant changes in patient condition, and modifying care based on clinical presentation.
  2. Provides individualized care, recognizes and takes appropriate action for significant changes in patient conditions.
  3. Evaluates effectiveness of care and makes necessary modifications to assist with optimal patient outcomes.
  4. Establishes relevant, evidence-based and safe interventions and priorities when providing care, including administering of medications.
  5. Collaborates effectively with patient, patient’s significant others, and members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Acts as a resource to peers, medical students, house officers, and other health care providers.
  6. Communicates patient status through verbal, electronic, and written means with other health care providers, and takes appropriate action for patient well-being.
  7. Observes patient to recognize care needs. Implements care/interventions directly when needed (physical, social or emotional) or indirectly by collaboration with other nursing team members, physicians or members of other health care disciplines.
  8. Collaborates with colleagues to ensure patient and family involvement with discharge planning and the achievement of identified needs through teaching or referrals. Assumes responsibility for ensuring an integrated discharge planning process.
  9. Identifies and offers solutions to patient care delivery issues through quality improvement, continuing education, research, and peer review activities.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Program Coordinator: 20hrs/week, PT remote

Designs, implements and oversees EMS programs and related grants to make quality pre-hospital care available to citizens in the D-H catchment area.

  1. Develops continuing education curriculum and training opportunities for pre-hospital providers.
  2. Implements continuous quality assessment and quality improvement programs.
  3. Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates Center for Rural Emergency Services and Trauma (CREST) for EMS Network workflows.
  4. Manages multiple workgroups to achieve program goals and objectives, including IS/IT workgroup, clinical curriculum workgroup, regional hub hospital teams, and community EMS advisors.
  5. Develops and implements simulation curriculum, monthly case reviews, and didactic educational sessions.
  6. Develops and implements competency assessment tools for pre-hospital providers.
  7. Writes and produces content for EMS-focused education website and “Question of the Week” service.
  8. Assists with establishment of CREST for EMS Network structure.
  9. Orchestrates and manages the CREST for EMS Symposium.
  10. Facilitates EMS research projects.
  11. Develops funding sources and expansion plan for CREST for EMS Network.
  12. Coordinates research, evaluation and policy analysis activities.
  13. Creates deliverables for local, regional, and national EMS-related conferences.
  14. Cultivates collaborative relationships and facilitates communication between, local and state EMS agencies, Emergency Department Staff, and D-H inpatient resources.
  15. Assists in proposal preparation and submission of applications for grants and other funding opportunities. Coordinates post-award evaluation visits by grant-making organizations, provides and prepares reports on programs’ progress.
  16. Ensures compliance with funding agencies’ policies and requirements.
  17. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

Paramedic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with 3 years of relevant clinical paramedic experience in the field of pre-hospital emergency care or in-hospital emergency care preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills desired with the ability to work collaboratively as member of multi-disciplinary team.

Additional Qualifications for Program Coordinator:

  • Associate’s degree with 3 years of relevant clinical experience in the field of pre-hospital emergency care and experience in program management, quantitative research, evaluation, education or simulation; or the equivalent in education and experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in developing collaborative approach to program development, establishing policies and procedures, and ability to support project evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical and educational leadership to staff, research partners, medical/health professional students and others.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Some travel required.
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician’s Paramedic Certification, (EMT-P)
  • Current New Hampshire Paramedic License
  • Current BLS
  • ACLS, PALS and Moderate Sedation (within 6 months of date of hire)
  • Current PHTLS, or proof of audited ATLS or audited TNCC
  • AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Training within one year of hire.
