Job description

The person in this position is assigned seasonal sports, which could include, but are not limited to, Men's & Women's soccer, aquatic sports (swimming/diving and water polo), Women's Basketball, Football (secondary), Men's Basketball, and Track & Field/Cross Country.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  1. Provides guidance and leadership for all game day operations and events.
  2. Manages individual athletic programs, budgets, and serves as a liaison to game day operational entities including, but not limited to, visiting teams, coaches, officials, and various operational crews.
  3. Assists with all aspects of Football Gameday Operations.
  4. Serves as lead on B1G and NCAA hosted championships.
  5. Oversees internship program.
General Responsibilities
  1. Plans a variety of recurring and ad hoc events for the university, overseeing budgets, vendor contracts, transportation, catering, signage, equipment, technology, and other event components. Coordinates event activities prior to and on the day of events.
  2. Consults with internal and external constituencies to plan event timelines and specifications, negotiating agreements and contracts.
  3. Works closely with vendors and staff to ensure goods and services arrive timely and in acceptable condition.
  4. Interfaces with media and marketing/communications regarding event publicity.
  5. Tracks and analyzes event metrics, such as attendance, feedback, and expenses; monitors effectiveness and ROI; suggests improvements for future events.
  6. Ensures events adhere to university policies and contractual obligations.
  7. May recommend procedural and policy improvements for operational efficiency.
  8. May guide lower-level Event Services staff and delegate administrative tasks.
Qualifications

Combination of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may substitute for work experience, and vice versa.

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, public administration, or related field.
Work Experience
  • Required: 2 years in events, hospitality, or related field.
  • Preferred: 4 years of event-related work; 2 years in a supervisory role.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires effective communication, handling equipment, remaining stationary, and climbing stairs/ladders. Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds, discern colors, and have good depth perception is necessary. The role must be performed with or without accommodations. The position requires night, weekend, and holiday work.
