Job summary

GE Aerospace in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for IMA Configuration Tools to provide technical leadership and hands-on development across design, testing, and maintenance of critical software. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with systems engineers and cross-functional teams, and drive high‑quality software that enables interoperability and meets program objectives.

This role offers remote flexibility but requires in-person orientation Day 1 for remote hires;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of software development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, debugging, and testing software in C# and/or Python.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, debugging, testing, and review of software applications in C# and Python for IMA Configuration Tools.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior software engineers.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and stakeholders to turn user needs into software solutions.
• Ensure activities align with product specs, requirements, and program objectives.
• Drive interoperability and reuse of software with cross‑functional teams and partners.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and propose innovative solutions.
• Support planning and execution to meet schedules and deliverables.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software processes and tools.
