Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC seeks a senior-level Lead Packaging Maintenance Mechanic for its DuPage County, IL facility. You will keep high-speed packaging lines running, rebuild equipment during downtime, and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults with minimal outside help.

Ideal candidates have 5–10+ years in food packaging maintenance, strong electrical skills, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while logging all work in the CMMS.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in maintenance for high-speed food packaging or manufacturing.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting without full electrician credentials.
• Experience maintaining/rebuilding packaging machinery (baggers, form-fill-seal, sealers).
• CMMS experience preferred; familiarity with packing/ weighing brands is a plus.
• Willing to coach junior technicians and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant.
• Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during planned and emergency downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults and fix them without waiting for help.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on production lines daily.
• Mentor junior technicians and share knowledge on the floor.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log work in the CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering on improvement projects.
