Job summary

LeoForce in Birmingham, AL is seeking a senior Estimating & Preconstruction leader to own pricing outcomes across large programs. You will build and lead the preconstruction team and partner with Client executives on pursuit strategy.

Responsibilities include developing scalable estimating tools, managing risk analyses, and presenting reviews to Executive Leadership while guiding cross-functional teams through complex negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the construction industry, including 4+ years in Preconstruction and Estimating.
• Demonstrated accountability for estimating and preconstruction across programs totaling >$100M annual pursuit value.
• Proven C-suite level client and commercial partner relationships during pursuit and negotiation.
• Ability to build, restructure, and right-size an estimating and preconstruction team.
• Ability to take direct control of a pursuit or estimate in jeopardy and restore defensible margins.
• Experience presenting and defending pursuit and pricing reviews with Executive Leadership.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in estimating technology and preconstruction platforms.
• Strong scheduling proficiency across MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet.
• Advanced MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% depending on pursuit activity.

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy, integrity, and margin impact of preconstruction estimates across assigned programs.
• Design, build, and restructure the Estimating & Preconstruction team to meet pursuit demand.
• Lead and supervise direct reports: Assistant Preconstruction, Estimators, and PM staff.
• Refine and improve operational procedures across preconstruction workflows; establish standards for estimates.
• Develop and maintain estimating systems and infrastructure; database, templates, B.O.E., tools.
• Lead end-to-end pricing exercises: RFPs, pricing documents, price leveling, and awards.
• Develop program and project risk analyses; elevate risks to Leadership.
• Lead Value Engineering efforts with internal and client teams.
• Develop initial DMC project schedules and handoff-ready estimates.
• Track design scope changes that affect budget or schedule; communicate impacts.
• Transfer estimating information to internal customers for operational use.
• Take direct control of escalated estimates and return to defensible state.
• Present and defend pursuit/pricing reviews to Executive Leadership.
• Collaborate to develop scalable field self-perform estimating tools and field-ops estimating.
