Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Manager, Preconstruction & Estimating in Birmingham, AL to lead estimating and preconstruction for large programs, oversee a team, and partner with client teams to shape pricing strategy. This role blends leadership with hands‑on cost planning, risk analysis, VE efforts, and schedule integration, interfacing with executives to protect margins and win pursuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the construction industry, including 4+ years in Preconstruction and Estimating.
• Demonstrated accountability for the estimating and preconstruction function across programs totaling >$100M in annual pursuit value.
• Proven ability to lead pricing strategy, subcontract negotiations, and client contract support.
• Advanced proficiency in estimating technology and preconstruction platforms (Building Connected, Sage Estimating, Timberline, WinEst).
• Advanced scheduling proficiency (MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet).
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy and margin impact of preconstruction estimates.
• Design and restructure the Estimating & Preconstruction team as needed.
• Lead and supervise direct reports across preconstruction staff.
• Refine and improve operational procedures across preconstruction workflows.
• Develop and maintain the estimating systems and infrastructure.
• Lead preconstruction pricing exercises end-to-end.
• Develop program risk analyses and escalate risks to Leadership.
• Lead Value Engineering efforts with internal and client-directed teams.
