This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Senior Lead Environmental Scientist to join our team in the U.S., focusing on environmental permitting, project management, and leadership in environmental projects, particularly in the New England region. The role involves managing complex projects related to infrastructure development, including highways, rail, renewable energy, and electric transmission siting and routing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with New England state and federal permitting processes and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental permitting and planning projects, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage natural resource and environmental studies, analyses, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, attorneys, and environmental specialists.
  • Mentor junior staff and support their professional growth.
  • Develop strategies for public engagement, including participation in open houses, meetings, and hearings.
  • Make ethical and responsible decisions regarding project resources and conduct.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences, Ecology, or related field.
  • 10+ years managing environmental permitting and planning projects.
  • Proven leadership and ability to guide teams independently.
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with New England agencies and USACE.
  • Experience with proposals, client communication, and project management.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and readiness for occasional travel.
