Position: Principal Scientist – DNA Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Integrated Defense Solutions Business Unit, working 100% remotely or in Charlottesville, VA. The successful candidate will conduct forensic analysis on human DNA (hDNA) data, with substantial experience in DNA profile interpretation.

Key Responsibilities and Success Factors

The Senior Scientist will provide forensic services for DNA profile interpretation, requiring quick learning, project-specific training, and proficiency demonstration. U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation are mandatory.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Performing technical reviews of analytical data and reports
• Writing or contributing to technical reports and publications with clear results and well-supported conclusions
• Interacting with clients to provide updates and summaries of testing results

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Forensic Science or related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Outlook; ability to learn new software
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for Department of Defense clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with forensic DNA profiling tools such as stutter thresholds, calculator aids, CE batch files, Genemapper IDX files, STRmix model maker
• Experience maintaining security of a Forensic Register
• Adherence to a professional code of conduct
• Experience following guidelines for DNA profile interpretation
