Join to apply for the Senior Lead Climate Scientist role at WSP in the U.S.

WSP is seeking a Senior Lead Climate Scientist to support our growing Resilience Services Practice and Climate, Resilience, and Sustainability Team. This full-time position can be based in any of our 100+ U.S. offices or remotely.

The role involves leading quantitative analysis of climate and environmental data, researching climate impact thresholds, and mentoring staff. You will collaborate with experts across disciplines to develop resilience strategies for clients facing climate-related hazards.

Your Responsibilities

1. Lead development of workflows for analyzing environmental data and climate projections.
2. Research climate stressor thresholds and environmental data applications.
3. Support climate risk assessments for clients like municipalities and infrastructure agencies.
4. Summarize methodologies and results for diverse audiences.
5. Lead project tasks and coordinate with internal and external teams.
6. Contribute to the growth of the Resilience Services Practice.
7. Engage with clients and represent WSP in the marketplace.
8. Assist in developing strategic business plans.
9. Adhere to WSP’s ethical and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in atmospheric science, climate science, meteorology, or related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in climate data analysis and hazard impact assessment.
• Expertise in climate models, statistics, and data processing tools like Python.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree.
• Experience with high-performance computing, hazard modeling, and risk assessments.

Benefits & Compensation

WSP offers comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid leave benefits. Salary range: $97,100 - $198,200, depending on location and experience.
