Socket.dev in California seeks a Lead Designer to shape the future of online multiplayer games. You will lead a design team, defining scope, objectives and milestones to drive core gameplay systems and features across disciplines.

You will mentor designers, drive live-service initiatives from development through launch, and ensure cohesive gameplay through integration of UI, art, engineering and audio. A strong background in Unreal Engine and scripting is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional game design with team leadership.
• Experience shaping live-service games from development to launch.
• Proven ability to design multiplayer features across systems.
• Strong understanding of UI, Art, Engineering, Audio and VFX.

Responsibilities

• Lead a feature team by setting scope, approach and design objectives aligned with game goals.
• Mentor designers with growth and actionable feedback on work and process.
• Define sprint and milestone objectives and tradeoffs for your team.
• Evaluate work and plan improvements with concrete steps.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align work and communicate changes.
• Maintain execution standards for scripting and design execution, in-engine and docs.
