Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Lead Data Governance Architect to guide delivery of its data governance program on the Telemetry, Observability & Technology team. The role combines hands-on engineering with leadership to implement a modern enterprise catalog, data quality rules, and access controls across a multi-platform estate.

The candidate will mentor two Senior Data Governance Architects and align with the Director of Data Governance Technology on tool selection and architecture, ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or governance tooling implementation, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
• Hands-on implementation experience with Informatica CDGC or a comparable enterprise catalog, meaning delivery and not only evaluation.
• Experience implementing Databricks Unity Catalog, including catalog hierarchies, role-based access control, and data product registration.
• Experience leading technical delivery for a small team of individual contributors in a complex, multi-platform environment.
• Experience with data quality tooling (Validio, Great Expectations, Soda, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience building automated workflows, scheduled pipelines, and data transformation scripts.

Responsibilities

• Governance Catalog Implementation: Lead full implementation of the enterprise governance catalog (Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog).
• Implementation Patterns & Technical Leadership: Define patterns and mentor governance engineers.
• Observability & Data Quality Tooling: Roll out observability tooling and data quality framework.
• Technology Assessment: Lead tech assessment work and build evaluation environments.
• Identity & Access Integration: Coordinate SailPoint integration design with Information Security.
• Phased Delivery Leadership: Lead governance roadmap from Unity Catalog to policy enforcement.
• Automation & Workflow Engineering: Build automated metadata ingestion and alert-driven workflows.
• Technical Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and Info Security.
